The rites, day by day (Hajj Tamattu')
- Before 8th: arrive, perform Umrah, and come out of Ihram until the 8th.
- 8th (Tarwiyah): enter Ihram for Hajj from your residence, recite the Talbiyah, go to Mina; pray Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr there, shortened but not combined.
- 9th (Arafah): after sunrise go to Arafat. Pray Dhuhr and Asr combined and shortened, then stand in du'a until sunset — this is the essence of Hajj. Leave after sunset without praying Maghrib there.
- Night of 10th (Muzdalifah): pray Maghrib and Isha combined, sleep under the sky, pray Fajr, make du'a, and collect 49–70 small pebbles.
- 10th (Eid): stone Jamarat al-Aqabah with 7 pebbles, have the Qurbani done, shave or trim (partial release from Ihram), then perform Tawaf al-Ifadah and Sa'i.
- 11th–12th (and 13th): stay in Mina; after Dhuhr each day stone all three Jamarat — small, middle, big — 7 pebbles each. Leave before sunset on the 12th or stay for the 13th.
- Before leaving Makkah: Tawaf al-Wada' (Farewell Tawaf).
